Alternative Energy Technologies (L2/E2) Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hans-Josef Allelein together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. André Bardow

This lecture ist offered in cooperation with the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics. It deals with the physical, technical and economical basics of alternative energy technologies, especially regenerative technologies. Based on their technical, economical and ecological aspects, new energy systems are assessed.

The following subjects are specified:

Special emphasis is put on the topic of regenerative energy sources. The assessment of the energy systems is done with especially taking technical, economic and ecological aspects into consideration.

Course Prerequisites:

This course can be attended by students with completed "Vordiplom" in mechanical or electrical engineering, physics and the environmental sciences programme.
basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat and mass transfer is helpful. At the beginning of the semestre, a block course will be held for electrical engineers to introduce them to the basics of fluid mechanics and heat and mass transfer. This course can also be attended by students of the lecture Alternative Energy Technologies. In case of interest, please contact Mr Belt (belt@lrst.rwth-aachen.de).

Exam Information

The exam will be held as a written test. The test is on July 31, 2012 from 9AM to 11AM in lecture room Eph.

Placements and Projects:

It is possible to complete Diploma-, Project-, Bachelor- und Master studies on all of the above topics as well as on energetical analyses of special industrial processes at our institue or in cooperation with other RWTH institutes or industrial companies.

Colloquium "Regenerative Energies"

The LRST is holding a Colloquium of Regenerative Energies for the first time this summer term. The lectures are on Tuesdays at 6PM in lecture hall MS, alternating with the dates of our Colloquium of Nuclear Technology.
