4. Research during Studies

Students of energy technology and the specialization field of reactor safety and technology, as well as students of other courses of studies, have the opportunity to choose topics in the range of nuclear engineering and selected parts of general energy engineering for their project thesis or dissertation. These works are carried out in co-operation with the industry as well as with institutes of the Research Centre Jülich (Faculty of Reactor Safety and Technology; studying field of Radiation Protection in Nuclear Technology; Institute of Safety Research and Reactor Technology, FZ Jülich; Institute of Material of Energy Technology, FZ Jülich).

The safe operation of nuclear plants, especially of nuclear power stations, is a crucial aspect of environmental protection. A world-wide utilization of nuclear energy in the future will lead to the development and introduction of nuclear technology that does not involve the risk of catastrophes any more. The projects described below are part of these efforts.
